Things To Do When Visiting Thailand

When visiting any country there are ‘must-hit’ destinations and sites, and Thailand isn’t any different! From its natural inhabitants to exotic beaches there is plenty to be said for Thailand and its islands.

Bangkok

From ladyboys to Buddhist temples there is many a reason to stop off in Thailand’s capital. You can escape the hustle bustle of the busy city and take a ride along the canals to view its various temples from the comfort of your personal long boat.

The Golden Triangle:

The Golden Triangle is the point where the Mekong River meets the Ruak River and is known locally as Sop Ruak. It is also the point at which Burma/ Myanmar, Laos and Thailand meet. You can stand on the river bank and look across to Burma/ Myanmar and Laos or if you want a closer look you can hire a boat.
To highlight the fact you have arrived at the Golden Triangle locals have erected various statues and signs to ensure that the spot cannot be missed.

Elephant Rides/ Trekking:

With the elephant being Thailand’s national symbol and a revered animal, there are plenty of ways in which you can encounter an elephant all across the country. You can learn more about the magnificent creatures by checking out various camps and centres such as the Chiang Dao Elephant camp.

Island Hopping:

With over 5000 miles of coastlines there’s plenty of exploring to be done around the country. You can travel by long-boat which gives to you the perfect opportunity to discover many hidden beaches and some of Thailand’s beautiful islands. On the Koh Phi Phi and Jo Phi Phi Don islands located in the adman sea, you shall discover white sand beaches which offer plenty of snorkelling opportunities out at sea.

With clear, calm waters it offers the perfect conditions for kayaking and it poses a great opportunity to explore the islands without the crowds on tourist boats or passenger ferries.

Floating Markets

As seen in iconic photos in tourist guides and travel books you can experience a floating market in Bangkok.  With wooden boats packed full with colourful local produce (particularly tropical fruit and veg and local cuisine that is cooked right there on the boat) there is plenty of culture to be absorbed here. If you want to avoid crowds and bag yourself a bargain before the best ones are gone, pick a market and arrive early.

Koh Tao

If an underwater adventure is what you’re looking for then look no further than Koh Tao. With some of the best dive sites in the world there’s plenty to see in the waters here, whether a scuba diving novice or expert.
If you’re looking to get qualified then it’s one of the most affordable places in the world to do so. You shall be swimming alongside all sorts of exotic creatures from some shark species to green turtles.

So when looking into getting away for the summer make sure you compare holidays to Thailand, otherwise you will be missing out! We recommend using travel comparison websites, in order to find the best deal!
